Building a Stronger Community for Older Adults
Routt County needs a Senior Center tailored to the needs and services of its older adults. For that reason, SOAR is excited to share our Capital Campaign for a new Senior Center!
There are over 6,090 older adults in Routt County (2020 census), and 1 in 4 people in the county is 60 or older. SOAR services are a lifeline for basic needs and socialization in our community.
To make this all possible, we launched a Capital Campaign, Building a Stronger Community for Older Adults. Our objective is to secure $6,000,000 to acquire a space, finance renovations, purchase equipment, and support other costs related to program expansion. SOAR currently has approximately $1,000,000 in the Capital Campaign fund, and we plan to raise the remaining funds in three phases. Our goal is to raise an additional $3,000,000 in 2026-2027, then another $1,000,000 for remodeling and renovations or new construction by 2028, and the remaining $1,000,000 for an endowment to help offset overhead costs by 2029.
SOAR is growing rapidly along with the senior population in Routt County. Our meal service has increased by 18% since the summer of 2025 and our transportation service has increased by 18%. Our Helping Helping Hands home care service has increased by 20% in 2025. The Aging Well program has grown to include footcare as well as exercise classes.
- Total Meals Served in 2025: 19,871
- Total Rides Provided in 2025: 2,722
- Approximately 5,600 volunteer hours from 54 volunteers
